Micro-DIMM Overview
The more functionality that is integrated into next generations of notebooks, the less space
will remain for DRAM itself. Therefore, notebook designers are looking for DIMMs with smaller form
factors but the same densities as SO-DIMMs, which are predominately used in notebooks. The solution
is called Micro-DIMM, a memory module which requires 35% less space than the SO-DIMM whilst
offering the same memory density. The small form factor Micro-DIMM is the perfect fit for the new
smallest form factor ultra-mobile PCs (subnotebooks).
Qimonda leads the way with the smallest form factors and lowest power consumption memories,
which allow bringing real x86-computing performance to devices close to smartphone size.
Applications:
- Ultra-mobile PCs
- Subnotebooks
Product Features:
- Reduced power consumption by up to -25% due to reduced voltage of 1.5 V
- 35% less space required compared to SO-DIMM
- Smallest JEDEC-approved module form factor
- Optimized thermal characteristics
- Supported by the latest processor/chipset offerings such as Intel Atom (C)

Our DDR2 Micro-DIMMs at reduced voltage of 1.5 V offer up to 25% lower power consumption
compared to standard DDR2 1.8 V at the same performance level.
