DDR3 SDRAM Components
DDR3 platform technology continues to innovate Mobility, Digital Home and Digital Enterprise
applications to meet end-user needs for memory bandwidth and density, power and thermal management
and small form factor.
The Qimonda DDR3 SDRAM devices offer data transfer rates of up to 1.600 Mb/s (Mb per second).
This doubles the maximum data transfer rates of today’s DDR2 memories, and significantly
boosts the performance of future PC, mobile and server systems. Furthermore, the supply voltage for
the memory is reduced from 1.8 V for DDR2 to just 1.5 V for DDR3 targeting a work day equivalent of
battery time. This voltage reduction is an important prerequisite for limiting power consumption
and heat generation due to the increase in bandwidths.
Advantages
- Higher bandwidth (up to 1.600 Mb/s)
- Performance increased at low power
- Longer battery life
- Enhanced low power features and thermal design
Features (All features are compatible with the upcoming JEDEC standard)
- Key features at a glance
- Introduction of asynchronous RESET pin
- Support of system level flight-time compensation
- On-DIMM Mirror friendly DRAM ballout
- Introduction of CWL (CAS Write Latency) per speed bin
- On-die IO calibration engine
DDR3 SDRAM component densities are standardized from 512 Mb through 8 Gb. The most important
densities will be 512 Mb and 1 Gb at the beginning, later on a 2 Gb and eventually 4 Gb component
will follow. Click to see the pin data rate
