DDR2 SO-DIMMs with Thermal Sensor

With the trend to slimmer Notebook designs, DRAM heat dissipation is an increasing area of concern. In order to provide continued performance and density performance increases, Qimonda supports its customers with SO-DIMMs equipped with Thermal-Sensors-on-DIMM.

It allows chipsets to measure the specific temperature on the module to adjust the best possible memory load in the specific thermal system design. In effect, the Thermal Sensor universally adopts the SO-DIMM to the performance which is feasible in the actual system thermal design. It  increases system stability, memory throughput over other throttling solutions (by guardband reduction) and protects the DRAM from potentially catastrophic fails.

Thermal Sensor on SO-DIMM is becoming the preferred thermal throttling solution for all DDR2 and DDR3 SO-DIMMs.
