Qimonda Named 2006 Sun Best-in-Class Supplier

Qimonda Recognized for Delivering Superior Quality and Value in 16th Annual Sun Supplier Awards Program

Oct 17, 2006 - Santa Clara, CALIF., USA

Qimonda AG (NYSE: QI) was named Best-in-Class Supplier in Sun Microsystems’ 2006 Supplier Awards program. The award honors companies that have delivered superior quality and value to Sun’s customers.

“Our goal at Qimonda is to exceed our customers’ expectations for quality and service. It is a great honor to be recognized by Sun for our contributions to their own ability to deliver top quality technology and services,” said Thomas Seifert, member of the Management Board for Qimonda. “ As the second largest DRAM supplier, Qimonda will continue to leverage our power savings DRAM technology to develop new and improved products that enable our customers in the server market to help their customers minimize power consumption, thereby lowering the overall cost of running a data center.”

Suppliers are judged on their performance in the areas of cost, quality, lead-time and delivery, and strategic and technical development. Based on these criteria, Sun awards suppliers for Best-in-Class and Meritorious Performance, and also names one Supplier of the Year.

The Best-in-Class award compares the performance of all suppliers who deliver a similar product or service and recognizes the highest performer in that area, while the Meritorious award recognizes suppliers who have gone the extra mile in one or more performance areas. The Supplier of the Year is selected for its extraordinary contributions to Sun’s record of delivering top-quality technology and service to its customers.

“Each year Sun Microsystems recognizes the ‘best of the best’ suppliers for their contributions to outstanding product quality and customer value,” said Eugene McCabe, executive vice president of Worldwide Operations at Sun. “Qimonda helped Sun exceed our customers’ expectations, and we congratulate them on their achievement.”
