Ph.D. Program
Reflecting our strong commitment to original and independent research work, we also offer a

Interview
Nuno Felino is an IT System Engineer, responsible for the planning, implementation and support of
IT solutions that drive the complaint management and audit management quality processes at Qimonda.
Q: So when did you join Qimonda?
A: I joined Qimonda (previously Infineon Technologies) in Porto in January 2003 as a trainee
in the IT Department. After a year as a Web developer with our enterprise resource planning team, I
joined the former IT Center of Competence for quality applications. Since then, I have been
enabling the quality processes that underpin our business processes.
Q: What do you enjoy most about your job?
A: I suppose it’s down to a sense of achievement – making a difference. I work with
multicultural, global teams to deploy concrete IT solutions that improve not only the efficiency of
our daily processes, but also the quality of the products we deliver to our end customers.
Q: What were the main motivating factors that drew you to Qimonda?
A: The biggest attraction was the possibility of working in a multinational company in a
stimulating work environment with a strong team spirit. Travel and a global context are really
important for me – they have helped me to broaden my horizons and understand the complexity of the
industry. Obviously, I was also interested in the job description and the area of specialization.
Q: So what does the future hold for you?
A: I hope to stay with Qimonda for many years to come. I see myself working with a global
team, coordinating improvement projects in logistics and the supply chain. My management skills,
combined with the right training opportunities, will allow me to take on more and more
responsibility and push my career in the direction of management.
